BH Cosmetics Carli Bybel Deluxe Edition Palette Review & Swatches

BH Cosmetics Carli Bybel Deluxe Edition Palette Review & Swatches

The hype for the new BH Cosmetics Carli Bybel Deluxe Edition Palette was even more intense than her original palette.  The morning of the deluxe edition's launch turned into a rather hairy situation on the BH Cosmetics website; the site couldn't handle the number of visitors that flooded in to purchase the palette, and everyone (including myself) was left stuck being unable to purchase.

Thankfully, Carli came in to save the day and relaunched the palette on her own personal website within hours.

In terms of the size and range of shades within the palette it is a steal for the $22.50.  High end brands sell palettes with half the product in it as the Carli Bybel palette, and sell them for over twice the price.  The highlighters in this palette alone, two of which are brand new shades, are creamy and highly pigmented high end quality.

The Carli Bybel Deluxe Edition is one of the best drugstore and affordable brand products I have ever tried.  Check out my full review of the palette in the video below, including swatches!

Shimmery?  Check.  Smokey?  Check.  Nude pink lipstick?  Hell double-check yes.  This pink champagne tutorial featuring Shaaanxo's palette with BH Cosmetics has everything you need in a soft and shimmery makeup look.

I love BH Cosmetics for their affordability and consistently high quality makeup products.  Shaaanxo, YouTube makeup guru, was one of the very first vloggers I ever started following on YouTube (along with Carli Bybel and Kathleen Lights).  So when Shaaanxo came out with an eyeshadow and lipstick palette in collaboration with BH Cosmetics I knew I HAD to have it!

The palette contains nine eyeshadow shades and nine lipstick shades, all of which are very versatile and allow for the ability to create an endless number of makeup looks.  Plus, at only$14.50 this palette is a STEAL.

Check out the tutorial below!

My Favorite Blush Palettes

If there is anything I love more than individual blushes, it's blush palettes!  With blush palettes I feel more value in purchasing a beauty product that comes with several pans of blush.  It feels more versatile because I am getting more than one shade to wear with more than one makeup look!

Today I am going to be talking about just four of my favorite blush palettes.  These are the ones I find myself grabbing for the most, but we all know there are plenty more great ones out there.  Urban Decay, Makeup Revolution, Morphe Brushes, and BH Cosmetics all make high quality and professional brushes that just cannot be overlooked!  Drugstore palettes and high end palettes alike, there is no mistaking good quality.

BH Cosmetics Pop Art Color Extreme Palette

BH Cosmetics Pop Art Color Extreme Palette | Ashley Elizabeth

When I first saw the Pop Art Color Extreme Palette on BH Cosmetic's website, I knew I had to have it.  Instantly, it reminded me of a much more affordable alternative to the Anastasia Beverly Hill's Artist Palette.  While the ABH palette has only 12 bright shades, the BH Cosmetics palette has twice as many that are just as pigmented and versitile in creating makeup looks.  Even better: the BH Cosmetics palette is half the price.

Creativity comes into play when working with a palette like this.  I love to use the "pop" shades for highlighting and emphasizing specific areas of the eye, such as the inner tear duct, the thick corner of winged eyeliner, or beneath the lower lash line.

The rules are meant to be broken when it comes to an artistic color palette.  You can create a bright pink cut crease with shimmery orange tear duct highlight, or shimmering periwinkle purple over black winged eyeliner.  The choices of what to accent are limitless.

The Pop Art palette has a combination of neutrals to balance a look and hot neons to spice it up.  BH describes it as "multi-use," meaning you can use it anywhere on the face, eyes and body.  This type of use would be perfect for creating entire face and neck Halloween or special effects makeup designs.

The texture of the shadows are soft and easy to blend.  My favorites are the soft sparking brown, which could be a dupe for ABH Artist Palette's Baby I'm A Star, the bright shimmering Barbie pink, and cool shimmering mint green.  There is an even balance of light and dark shades and I'm sure I'll find myself reaching for this palette throughout the year.

Overall review: colorful, fun, and an excellent value.  Anyone that enjoys makeup and creating a variety of makeup looks will love this palette.

Stone Ombre Lip and Makeup Tutorial

Greys and taupes have become incredibly popular with the change in weather (or, can we thank Kylie Jenner for that?).  In the spring and summer I was buying baby pinks, terracotta oranges, and pale warm nudes.  Now, I am all about those plummy browns, dusty mauves, and peachy nudes.  Oh, least I forget the newly crowned trending beauty term of the fall: Greige (that's grey-beige).

Ombres are a great way to mix two of your lipstick favorites into one very presumptuous look.  The ombre effect can instantly give a plumped up look to the lips, making them instantly appear larger and more voluptuous.

How I Got This Look

The Face

For the face on this look I want to keep every shade and tone I used very neutral and lightly defined.

I moisturize my face with Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion and my under eye area with ELF Eye Illuminating Cream.  I prime my skin with Laura Mercier Foundation Primer in Radiance and prime my under eye area with ELF Hydrating Under Eye Primer.  Using a Beauty Blender, I apply Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation in Light 29 to my entire face.  To highlight and conceal I use NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla in a V-shape beneath my eyes, in the middle of my forehead, down the bridge of my nose, on my chin, and on my eye lids.

To set everything I take the Real Techniques Setting Brush and place a mixture of the highlight shades Lucid and Lyric from the Kat Von D Shade and Light Contour Palette and place a generous amount over the areas that I highlighted with concealer.  I also add a generous amount to my jaw directly below my contour line.  I allow the extra powder to sit on my skin for a few minutes to "bake" before brushing off with a Morphe Brushes G23 Soft Fan Brush.

With the Real Techniques Sculpting Brush I take the contour shade Sombre from the Kat Von D palette and contour beneath my cheekbones, underneath my jaw bone, along the hairline on my forehead, down my temples, and alone the parallel sides of the bridge of my nose.  After blending I apply Make Up For Ever HD Blush in Cool Pink using the blush brush from the BH Cosmetics Party Girl Brush Set.

Using the same fan brush as earlier, I then apply the first shade of pale white highlighter from the Carli Bybel by BH Cosmetics Palette to the tops of my cheekbones, my forehead just above my brows, and the bridge of my nose.

I shape my brows with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Ebony, fill it in with the ABH Brow Powder in Medium Brown, and set it into place with the ABH Clear Brow Gel.

The Eyes

I keep the eyes simple and neutral for this makeup look to keep the main focus on the lips.

I have been using the BH Cosmetics Party Girl Brush Set for applying my eye makeup.  Using the Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics palette I take the color Frisk, a matte warm grey, with a fluffy blending brush into the crease of my eye and start blending upward.  This is going to be our transition shade.

I then apply Cover, a matte red-brown, directly into my crease with a small tapered blending brush using windshield wiper motions.  I reapply this color a couple times to build the color, making sure it blends into my transition shade but stays directly within the crease.

I use the color Primal, a matte brown, to define my outer corner.  I apply this directly to the outer third of my eye lid in the shape of a sideways "V" to smoke out the look ever so slightly.  I also add a little of the color Undone, a smokey matte brown, over top of where I placed Primal to darken the outer corner.

Using a flat shadow brush I take the color Frisk again and press it onto the center of my eye lid and bring it down into my inner corner.  Once the color is as pigmented as I want it to be, I then go back in with a crease brush and just make sure the crease and the outer V are just slightly blended enough that there are no harsh lines.

I take a small angled brush to draw on my eye liner using the NYX Gel Liner in Jet Black.  I get as close to the lash line as possible and press down on the lid to create a black line.  I wing this out just a little when I reach the outer corner of my eye.

I then use the color Skimp, a pale nude satin, to highlight the inner tear duct with a fluffy blending brush, and a small flat shadow brush to highlight my brow bone just below my eyebrow.

Finally, I take the color Cover again and glide it below my bottom lash line using a small eye defining brush, making sure to blend into the outer corner of my eye to give the entire look a rounded appearance.  To add some dimension and soften any harshness I go over this color with our original transition color, Frisk.

To finish I curl my lashes and apply mascara using Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash.  Using the Vegas Nay by Eylure Lash Glue I apply the Vegas Nay by Eylure lashes in Easy Elegance.

The Lips

I wanted to make the lips the centerpiece of this look.  First, I take NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Nude Truffle to outline and fill in the outer corners of my lips  I take this color inward about halfway to the middle of my lips on both sides.

I then take NYX Matte Lipstick in Butter and fill in the rest of my lipsUsing Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Pure Hollywood I place this onto my inner pout.  Using my ring finger I carefully blend where the two colors meet to give the lips a graduated ombre effect.

I set the entire finished look with Urban Decay's De-slick Makeup Setting Spray.
