2. I prime my skin with NYX Angel Veil Skin Perfecting Primer and prime my under eye area with ELF Hydrating Under Eye Primer.

3. Using a Beauty Blender, I apply Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation in Light 29 to my entire face.

4. To highlight and conceal I use Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Concealer Light Warm in a V-shape beneath my eyes, in the middle of my forehead, down the bridge of my nose, on my chin, and on my eye lids.

 Highlight and Set

1. To set everything I take the Real Techniques Setting Brush and place a mixture of the highlight shades Lucid and Lyric from the Kat Von D Shade and Light Contour Palette and place a generous amount over the areas that I highlighted with concealer.

2. I also add a generous amount to my jaw directly below my contour line.

3. I allow the extra powder to sit on my skin for a few minutes to "bake" before brushing off with a Morphe Brushes G23 Soft Fan Brush.

Contour

1. Using the Real Techniques Sculpting Brush I take the contour shade Sombre from the Kat Von D palette and contour beneath my cheekbones, underneath my jaw bone, along the hairline on my forehead, down my temples, and alone the parallel sides of the bridge of my nose.

2. After blending I apply the first color from the Morphe Brushes 9B Blush Palette, a soft orange-pink, using a BH Cosmetics blush brush.

The Eyes

Transition Shade, Crease Line, and Lid

1. I take the color Peach Smoothie by Makeup Geek, a matte light peach beige, with a fluffy blending brush into the crease of my eye and start blending upward.  This is going to be our transition shade.

2. I then apply the color Deep Skin by Morphe Brushes, a satin soft gold peach with pearl, directly into my crease with a small tapered blending brush using windshield wiper motions.

3. I reapply this color a couple times to build the color, making sure it blends into my transition shade but stays directly within the crease.

4. I first prep my eyelid with a small dab of
ELF Glitter Glue.

5. Using a flat shadow brush I take the color Champagne from the Lorac Pro Palette, a white and pink shimmer, and press it onto the center of my eye lid.

6. Once the color is as vibrant as I want it to be, I then go back in with a blending brush and just make sure the crease is evenly blended and there are no harsh lines.

7. I then go back in to the Champagne and add just a touch more color to the center of my lid.

Wing, Liner, and Highlight

1. I take a small angled brush to draw on my eye liner using the Nyx Gel Liner in Jet Black.  I get as close to the lash line as possible and press down on the lid to create a black line.

2. I wing out the black gel liner when I reach the outer corner of my eye.

3. I use the color Shimma Shimma by Makeup Geek, a shimmery pale beige, to highlight the inner tear duct with a fluffy blending brush, and a small flat shadow brush to highlight my brow bone just below my eyebrow.

4. I take the
ColourPop Creme Gel in Kicker and glide it below my bottom lash line using a small eye defining brush, making sure to blend into the outer corner of my eye to give it a rounded out look.

DIY Beauty: How To Create Natural Hair Masks

DIY Beauty: How To Create Natural Hair Masks

My hair goes through a lot.  I dye it every two months, blow dry and straighten it every other day, tease it to create volume, and tie it up in a bun.  You name it, I've done it to my hair.  That is why I've gotten into the good habit of using a hair mask every weekend.

Not too long ago I started stocking up on those little oil-based packets from Sephora and the drug store (Moroccan, Keratin, Argan) to refresh and rejuvenate my strained locks.  Then I had a thought: why not just make these myself?

Hair masks are an awesome way to make your hair feel softer and look shinier and healthier.  Of course you can spend your money on any one of those pre-mixed packets, but why not save a few bucks and make your own using products you already have in your kitchen?

There are DIY hair mask ingredients that can help combat some of the most common hair problems: itchy scalp, dry hair, and oily hair.  You can infuse moisture and hydration into dry and damaged strands, alleviate your itchy or flaky scalp, or stop excess oil by maintaining your lock's pH balance.

Dry Hair

For hair with breakage, split ends, dullness, and damage.

2 Tbsp. Honey
1 Tbsp Coconut Oil

Honey helps the hair retain moisture, which will make it appear shiny and voluminous.

Coconut Oil is also moisturizing, but too much of this ingredient can leave your hair looking greasy instead of shiny.  Less is always more.

Natural Hair Mask: Itchy Scalp

For hair with flakiness and in need of nourishment at the base of the hair follicle.  Removes dead skin cells and infuses nourishment.

2 Tbsp. Brown Sugar
1 Tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Brown sugar acts as an exfoliant and removes dead skin cells and residue that have built up on the scalp and base of the hair follicle.

Extra virgin olive oil helps to give your hair a strong and shiny finish.  However, as with the Coconut Oil too much can have a greasy effect if too much is used.  Less is always more.

Natural Hair Mask: Oily Hair

For hair with greasiness and excessive oil production.
Corrects the pH level of the scalp and hair.

1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
1 Lemon with Rind

Apple cider vinegar with help to rid your hair of reside and build up left by conditioners or other leave-in products.  It balances pH levels and works as a natural detangler.

The acidity in lemon helps to reduce excess oil production and balance pH levels.

DIY Hair Masks: Directions

Pick your mask of choice.  Mix all of the mask's ingredients into a bowl.  Double or even triple each ingredient depending on your length of hair.  Wash your hair as normal with shampoo but do not use conditioner.  With damp hair apply the mask to your hair, and then evenly disperse by running a wide tooth comb through your hair.  Using massaging motions work the mask from the roots of your hair to the tips.  Cover with shower cap, towel, or plastic wrap.  Wait 20 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water.
