When I think of my favorite season of the year, Fall, I think of warm drinks, cozy sweaters, sweet tasting apples and pumpkins, long, cool walks, and the crunch of colorful, fallen leaves beneath my boots. I binge on pumpkin flavored treats and drinks, and revel in the smell of cinnamon decorations. As summarized perfectly by Anne of Green Gables, "I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers."
Along with the chilly weather comes the desire for makeup looks that incorporate cooler, darker tones. This means swapping out those warm summery shades of rosy pinks, peaches, golden yellows and orangey-reds for taupes, browns, blues and blue-greens, deep and blue-based reds, and purple violets.
Transitioning your Makeup from Summer to Fall
Replace bright lips with plum lips, tinted moisturizer with foundation, bright poppy blush with pink blush, and shimmer bronzer with matte bronzer. Overall, you are going to want to gravitate towards more darker, matte shades.
Remember: when you are going for a dark lip and/or eye color, make sure the rest of your makeup stays light and neutral. Don't pair a Burgandy lip with and orange-hued blush unless you're about to step out onto one of the fall fashion runways.
How I Created This Look
In order to create this Autumn look for the eyes I used the Morphe 35N palette.
This palette is completely matte and one of my favorite palettes to use on a daily basis. A versatile palette with 35 different eye shadows, all shades include natural and cool tones that run a gradient from creamy pale to deep and dark. This palette allows you to create a wide range of looks, from light and bright to smoky and defined.
This is going to allow us to easily design the everyday modern earthy look that we are going for. The shadows are pigment rich and high performing, and are super soft and easy to blend.
To compliment this look I used the NYX matte lip color in Butter, NYX High Voltage lipstick in Stone, NYX lip liner in Nude Truffle, NARS blush in Sex Appeal, and Sinful Colors nail polish in Calypso. An excellent dupe for the NARS blush is the ELF Studio Blush in Peachy Keen.
