Vampy Ombre Lips Makeup Tutorial

With Halloween fast approaching who wouldn't love to rock a vampy lip?  This one is unique and although it is obviously not an everyday wearable look by any means, it would most definitely compliment any witch, vampire, or creature of the night costume you can come up with.

Speaking of costumes, I have yet to pull one together for myself.  I have already decided on several Halloween inspired makeup looks that I will be posting this month, but not one yet that I will be physically wearing on Halloween.  The reason is that I will be coordinating with my boyfriend on a matching couples costume.  I was thinking Hunter and Doe because he has a lot of camo and I have a lot of makeup (haha, obviously).

How I Got This Look

The Face
and The Eyes

I did my usual face routine as the base of this makeup look.  All products used will be listed below.

The centerpiece of this look are the lips, so I want to do something simple and soft for the eyes.  I created a soft brown cut crease with heavy black winged eyeliner.

A tutorial for the soft brown cut crease makeup look will be posted this Friday!

The Lips

This vampy ombre lip is actually fairly simple to achieve as long as you spend some time patiently blending.  Make sure to first exfoliate, moisturize and prime your lips in order to achieve a highly pigmented look.

First, I line my lips with NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Currant.  Using the BH Cosmetics Ultimate Lip palette, I take the first color on the second row, a dark purple-brown, and line my lips using the lip brush from the BH Party Girl Brush Set.  I then take the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen and go over this color to darken it.  I smudge out the inside of the line just slightly to help with the ombre effect.

Next, I take the fourth color on the second row of the Ultimate Lips palette, a red-orange, and use a clean lip brush to layer an overcoat around my lip.  After I do this I go back in with a clean lip brush and gently blend the area where the red and purple colors meet.

Last, I dab the fourth color on the first row, a pale yellow-nude color, onto my inner pout in order to prime it for what we are doing next.  Carefully bend the pale color into the red with a clean lip brush.  Then, using a clean shadow brush I take the color ES75, a burnt orange shimmer from the Morphe Brushes Jaclyn Hill Favorites Palette, and apply it directly over where I place the pale color on my inner pout.

Finally, go back in with a clean lip brush and clean up anything I can see that still needs to be fixed or blended more.
